Toronto-based improviser Karen Ng has established herself as a unique musical force nationally and internationally. Whether encountering her on tour with renowned artists or in an intimate venue in Berlin, audiences have come to know her distinctive tone and remarkable offerings in a variety of contexts. Over the last 15 years Ng has performed with some of Canada’s most prized artists such as The Weather Station, Andy Shauf, Do Make Say Think and many more, appearing in high profile performances such as Jimmy Kimmel, NPR’s Tiny Desk, Austin City Limits and festivals including Big Ears, Pitchfork, Bonaroo, Primavera, Osheaga, Best Kept Secret and Wilco’s Solid Sounds among others.

Trevor Dunn co-founded the California based avant-rock band Mr. Bungle in 1985 and has since established himself on over 150 recordings as a NYC bassist, composer and bandleader. Dunn has lived in Brooklyn since 2000 and can be heard with John Zorn, Kris Davis, Nels Cline, Ahleuchatistas, Titan To Tachyons and in duo with Buzz Osborne from the Melvins, as well as his own film, chamber and rock projects. In 2020 he started a DIY label Riverworm Records for his most obscure ensembles. Also a published writer, articles include topics such as laundry, surviving the road, bass technique, decay and loss.

AC/CC is a poetic-musical formation composed of Sarah Albu (voice and objects), Belinda Campbell (piano and electronics), Marilou Craft (voice, text, and manipulations of all kinds), and Eric Craven (percussion). Their meeting came about by chance after each artist contributed solo material to the Cuchabata Records compilation 60 × 44 (CUCH-187). At the June 2022 album launch, they were assigned at random to perform a live, improvised set together. Since then, the group has performed as AC/CC at various events, including Mardi Spaghetti (Montreal) and Musique pas d’air (Quebec City) improvised music series, Suoni Per il Popolo and Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival. Each AC/CC performance is a one-of-a-kind experience arising from the dynamic interplay between Craft’s textual and vocal manipulations and Albu, Campbell and Craven’s spontaneous musical invention. This could emerge as an impromptu poetic flow, as flurries of processed contextual content, or as remixed echoes of popular culture. All of these reflect the present moment as it resonates with social and societal currents. Artists and instruments resonate with one another, forming a spontaneous mixture of words, sounds, textures, rhythms and melodies.
