Lane Shi Otay Onii, known professionally as Otay:onii, is one of the most inquisitive and genre-defying artists of her generation. A multifaceted creator whose work spans performance art, composition, installation, and avant-garde music practice. Otay:onii is the first ever artist selected for the three-year Triennium Residency at Roadburn, she was a contributing composer and performer in Florentina Holzinger’s groundbreaking opera production ‘SANCTA‘, and has performed at festivals world-wide such as SXSW, Roadburn Festival, CTM, Fusion, Creepy Teepy, LGW, Fekete Zaj, and Full of Lava. Otay:onii has already been celebrated with many awards worldwide, including the Global Music Awards ‘Bronze Prize for Best Female Vocalist‘ and ‘Best Sound’ at Audiovisual Arts Industrial Incubator Awards.
thisquietarmy is the musical project of Eric Quach, a Montreal-based artist who has been active for more than twenty years at the intersection of drone, experimental music, and electronics. With numerous releases on international labels, the project has performed at festivals such as Le Guess Who?, Dunk!Festival, Amplifest, Mutek, and FIMAV, and regularly collaborates with members of Voivod, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Nadja.
Born in Brazil, Mothrspace (aka Bruna Wanderley) has lived in Montreal since 2015. She is part of an Art Punk Rock group from Montreal called Spectroom. She is a bassist in Infección and was also a guest vocalist for Canadian Progressive Death Metal band Messora on “The Door” album. She sings and plays cello in Kapitur.
Mark Molnar is a Canadian composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work spans contemporary composition, free improvisation, and experimental sound. Performing on strings, electronics, erhu, and rebab, he has co-founded or contributed to countless projects across three decades of creating and curating in Ottawa. He established Kingdom Shore as a vehicle for touring his compositions and Black Bough Records as a platform for releasing boundary-pushing music. His collaborators have included artists like Sam Shalabi, Craig Pedersen, Sandro Perri, Peter Zummo, Phil Minton, Satoko Fuji, Tetuzi Akiyama, Naoto Yamagishi, Akira Sakata, and Keiji Haino. He has played a central or recurring role in bands like Land Of Kush, Black Seas Ensemble, Seppuku, Gamelan Semara Winangun, 1/4 Tonne Overhaul and Horseman, Pass By.
Artists Frédérique Duval (Fumerolles) and Rosalie Chretien collaborate to create immersive performances where ambient electronics, organic soundscapes, percussion, and voice converge into intimate sonic landscapes. Blending DIY machines, synthesizers, effects, and tactile percussion with Rosalie’s ethereal vocals that channel raw emotional expression, they explore repetition, deconstruction, and the transformative power of sound.
Their music unfolds as a space for deep listening and presence. Their collaboration balances delicate melodic textures with instinctive rhythmic gestures and voice, inviting audiences into an experience that is both meditative and emotionally immediate.
Frédérique’s solo project, Fumerolles, has released albums on independent labels including Hotham Sounds, Kinnta, Jeunesse Cosmique, and Isohyet. Rosalie’s multidisciplinary practice has been presented at the Suoni Per Il Popolo experimental music and arts festival, the LEGS performance series, the Mardi Spaghetti improvised music evenings, and has been featured in a multitude of other events.
